Welcome to “Volcano Journey” in Bandai-Asahi National Park

About The Adatara Nature Center

The Adatara Nature Center serves as the trail center for the Bandai-Azuma-Adatara Volcano Trail (®︎), a long trail hiking route that connects three active volcanoes and lakes in Bandai-Asahi National Park. Bandai (1816m above sea level), Azuma (2035m above sea level), and Adatara (1700m above sea level), three of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains, and offers a route that allows visitors to enjoy hiking as a “journey” while staying at traditional hot springs, mountain huts, and campgrounds scattered around the area. Long Trail

Long Trail
Bandai-Azuma-Adachi Tara Volcano Trail ®︎

The long trail features three active volcanoes (VOLCANO) along the way. Although they are all located in the same area of Bandai-Asahi National Park (Bandai-Azuma and Inawashiro areas), the three volcanoes are very different from each other in terms of their shape and origin.

The good thing about long trails is that, unlike marathons, you do not have to complete the entire trail at once. You can walk the distance you want to walk at your own pace, in the season you want to walk it, and aim to complete it over the course of several years, which is the best part of the challenge of long trails. Another selling point of the “Bandai-Azuma-Adachi Tara Volcano Trail (®︎)” is that you can enjoy the trail in theme-based hikes such as “hot springs x section hikes” without aiming to conquer the trail from the beginning.

This time, we have created a 3-day/2-night tour based on the “Bandai-Azuma-Adachi Tara Volcano Trail (®︎)” with 5 different themes.

Here is an overview of the tour.
